About a week ago the whole family made a quick little trip to Fernie, BC (about a 3 hour drive) to meet Peter’s cousin, Jeff, and pick up the elk and deer meet from Peter’s Kootenay hunt a few weeks ago. It was fun to get out of the city and drive through some beautiful countryside. I was definitely planning our move to an acreage in the mountains on that drive.
On Thursday, Peter and I were able to leave the kids with our friends Everett & Kaidi and go to Banff for a couple of days. We live so close to Banff and were excited to take advantage of living close to this national treasure.
On our honeymoon we spent one night in Banff on the way to our houseboating adventure, and we ate at this Italian restaurant called Giorgio’s. We decided to revisit this restaurant on Thursday night and had a great time. On Friday, it rained most of the day and was cloudy, but we just had a blast being together and not having to do anything for anyone. We walked through the rainy streets, lazed around the hotel room, went swimming and then out for an amazing Greek feast. We drove around listening to music as loud as we wanted and sang along. Today it was a beautiful day in Banff, sun was shining and clouds were clearing. We went up the Banff gondola to the top of Sulphur Mountain and took in the amazing views! We were happy to see our kids’ beautiful faces when we came home but it was so great to be able to spend some time together as a couple for a few days.
